Dynamic Lie
The ideal situation for all golfers is to ensure that the center for the sole from heel to toe is the center of the point of impact between the sole and the ground for every iron shot. This will guarantee that the iron itself never is the cause of an inaccurate shot. The only way this can be ensured for all golfers is to fit and bend the lie angles. As a clubfitter, we want to ensure that any mis-direction shot you hit comes from your swing and not from the club. Your mis-direction shots caused by your swing can be remedied by seeing your local club professional.
The following diagrams illustrate the range of patterns for typical lie imprints. Note that the imprint illustration moves from the leading edge to the rear of the club's sole. This indicates that the clubface is closed on the leading edge and open on the rear edge. Further note that the imprint has moved from the toe to the heel of the club. This indicates that the club is too flat when marked on the toe and too upright when on the heel. The ideal mark will be an imprint in the center of the sole from heel to toe and from leading edge to rear of sole.

The Dynamic Lie Fitting Mat and Impact labels are the industry’s best method for testing lie angles. Club lie angle will be measured on the Auditor Loft/Lie machine and adjusted, if required, on the STEELCLUB® Plus Angle Machine.
